Christmas 1999, with the new Millennium just days away. The most Russian zip code in Los Angeles hums with holiday noise and the anticipation of a new century.
Yuri — a former theater director now working as a building manager, moonlighting as a hired Santa Claus — finds a young woman beside a broken-down car in his parking lot. She's been through something. He helps, as he does.
By the time the new millennium arrives, she has told him she is his daughter. No proof exists, and every reason not to believe her — and yet, he does. Not because the evidence is there, but because the hope has always been.
The world, he says, has been upside down since he left everything behind and came to this city. Tonight, for no reason at all, it starts turning right-side up again.
What follows is one extraordinary evening — warm, funny, occasionally heartbreaking — in the company of people who have all rebuilt their lives far from the place where they began.

Дальше следует один удивительный вечер — тёплый, смешной, временами щемящий — в компании людей, которые заново выстроили свою жизнь вдали от дома.
